tryouts

Tryouts will consist of three ice times; 1 skills session and 2 scrimmages.
Tryout fees are $100.
Goalies are free.
Please refer to guidelines below: Tryouts will be choosing the top 2/3 of the team. The remaining 1/3 will be chosen during the first week of practice. All skaters on the ice will be evaluated during practice.

Goalie specific evaluations will be happening August 17th at 6:15.
Highest evaluated goalie will make the team. All goalies are expected to attend tryouts in August.

Other Tryout Notes:

Please arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your child’s tryout skate
Parents are not to enter the bleacher side of the arena (unless to tie skates)
Upon arrival, you will sign-in and be given a jersey and a printout of an abbreviated version of “what to expect”
Jerseys must be returned and signed back in after the final day of try-outs.
The evaluators will be submitting their rankings/selections as players progress through tryouts and final selections will be made by August 29th.
Roster results will be communicated to every tryout participant by (parent) email over the course of the August 30th weekend. These emails will be scheduled to go out at the same time for everyone. If you do not receive an email by the end of that weekend, contact: coachingdirector@whatcomhockey.com.

Please keep in mind that criteria may be weighted differently by age group.
