As you probably know, the WCAHA competes both in Canada and the US. Both Canada and the US have exclusive governing bodies for ice hockey, Hockey Canada and USA Hockey, respectively. Generally speaking, it is their job to lead, develop, and promote positive hockey experiences within their jurisdiction. In an effort to ensure these goals are met, Hockey Canada and USA Hockey have developed standards for which all coaches, managers and safety people must meet in order to participate with their organization.
Not only is the WCAHA required to meet standards set by the two previously mentioned governing bodies but any affiliate association, as well. The WCAHA is an active member of two such affiliates, the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA) and the Pacific Northwest Amateur Hockey Association (PNAHA).
Every WCAHA team is required to have at least one coach, one manager and one safety person. Below are steps that a person can take to be a coach, manager or safety representative.
